Hey Man, Nice Shirt

I've never really thought too much about t-shirts. More often than not I'll just buy them without even trying them on. I've got a drawer full of t-shirts from Gap, Old Navy and even Target. However, they're not what I'd call my favorite shirts. I wear them because they're there, and they're something like $7.50 each, but they're nothing special. Other than plain t-shirts the majority of my other shirts are band related (except for a few Emily Strange and Paul Frank ones which do not fall into this category).

Lately I've been delving into the realm of more expensive t-shirts, and I have to say I'm liking it very much. One of my newest t-shirt obsessions is Heavy Rotation. Their designs are rather unique and their t-shirts are high quality and very comfortable. They are very flattering and very soft. I purchased a fleur de lys shirt at Bliss in Fremont (where I paid considerably more than what Heavy Rotation charge on their website) awhile back and it quickly became one of my favorite shirts. I ended up ordering a few more from Heavy Rotation directly, and they arrived yesterday. Again they're flattering, comfy and soft. I think I'm going to end up buying even more. Not to mention the order came with a catalog that is also an "activity book" filled with word finds, sudoku, paper dolls, etc. Very cute.

By far though, my favorite t-shirt of all time would be my short sleeved textured crew from Nation Ltd. It is about the softest, most comfortable t-shirt ever.

Per the website: "Think butter. This tee is like butter! No joke. Made out of gooey textured cotton with an inside out neck binding, basic tee fit."

I would say that is an accurate description, the shirt is absolutely perfect.

Nation shirts are very basic, but exceptional in their quality. They normally go for upwards of $60 (yes, for a plain t-shirt), but I can say that I'd almost pay that much for one because they're so perfect. However, I've got three Nation shirts right now and have ordered two more (Shawn's also got one and one more on the way) and I think I managed to get all those for about the price of two retail. When their shirts go on sale they're discounted up to 70%, which is an amazing deal.

Really, some days there isn't much better than a soft, cute, comfy t-shirt.

A Deadliest Catch Kind of Day

Saturday found us without much to do, other than get groceries, and to be honest the thought of getting groceries and not doing much else didn't sound too appealing. So we decided to take a little drive down the waterfront and attempt to find a way into Myrtle Edwards park. We found the park indeed, but there wasn't anywhere nearby to park and before we knew it we were in Ballard.

So of course, being Deadliest Catch and Mike Rowe fans we started talking about the show, and the boats and whatnot and decided it would be fun to see if we could find any of them. That show is just amazing and I never really realized all that went into fishing Opilio (or any other type of) crab.

Now, if you know anything about Ballard you'll know that it has a fairly large fishing community and a number of piers where boats are docked. As well as it being home to the locks. All very nautical, and very likely that some of the boats from the show could be found there.

We decided however, before anything since we were in Ballard we'd hit up Archie McPhee to see what kind of wonderful treasures we could find. On our way there I looked down 24th towards the water and thought I saw the F/V Northwestern. So after buying some ninja stickers at Archie McPhee we decided to head down there to see. Lo and behold it was the Northwesten and it was getting sandblasted to hell. I guess they were going to repaint it or something. While we were standing there gawking at the huge crabbing vessel some workers walked past and said they were doing something, sounded like 'carboning' or 'carpeting' it, we just smiled and nodded and said "oOoOOo, that's cool". Then we just walked down to the end of the public pier, where it was very calm and quiet and just hung out for a bit.

To continue our Deadliest Catch afternoon, we decided to head over to the Lockspot where they filmed After The Catch with all the captains & Mike Rowe, for some very tasty and very decently priced fish & chips. Which was a good end to our geek filled Deadliest Catch afternoon.
