New Tattoo

New Tattoo

I got a new tattoo about a month ago. It had been about 7-8 years since I'd got a new tattoo and I'd been planning on getting a new one for what seems like years and I finally decided to just get it done. I went to Laughing Buddha on Capitol Hill and got it done by Alexis. She was really cool and her room overlooks the whole mall area so we were able to sit there and talk shit about all the hippies that were hanging out outside the shop with their guitar.

This was the first tattoo I got that had any color other than just black. In fact I hadn't even really thought much about color before and didn't realize that there were some issues with certain color ink. Apparently red can be a bit of a bitch and cause irritation and take a long time to heal. I kind of wish I'd known before I went and got it done because this tattoo healed a lot slower than my others and in fact at one point I was concerned that it was infected. Though it was probably just a combination of the red ink as well as the soap/lotion combo I was using (lubriderm sucks, cetaphil lotion is awesome). Another thing is that my ankle was swollen and I swear looked like Rumer Willis' chin for about a week and a half. Apparently ankle tattoos can do that. I have one on the inside of my right ankle and don't remember any swelling, but that one was much smaller than this one.

Even though I had some issues with the red ink, I'm still considering adding more of the flowers/skulls and perhaps another cat on the inside of my ankle and tying it all together. We'll see. I've got a lot of ideas for tattoos that I want. I can't wait for my next one, which won't be 7-8 years from now. I'd be surprised if I wait that many months!

A little show update

Last Friday we saw the Decemberists at the Paramount. It was a pretty good show, though there was a lot more people than the last time we saw them in November. They played for over 2 hours and did a fun version of the Mariner's Revenge Song complete with whale costume and all. My Brightest Diamond opened and were very interesting. I'd never heard of them before, but the girl singer sounded like a mix between Tori Amos, Bjork and the girl from Portishead. Very moody. Shawn managed to bring in his camera and get some photos which he posted on Flickr.

This Sunday we were supposed to see the Fratellis opening for Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Unfortunately, "due to a rigorous tour schedule, spending the last two years on the road, the band have been forced to cancel all dates up until May 13th, 2007." Which completely sucks, not only because we're not going to get to see them, but also because we can't get a refund on the tickets.

Opening acts or guests may sometimes tour with headlining performers. Ticketmaster is not always made aware of opening acts or the length of their performances. These opening acts are subject to change or cancellation at any time without notice. No refund will be owed if an opening act is changed or canceled.

I guess that would be my bad for buying tickets only to see an opening act. I'm not that interested in BRMC to bother going out to see just them, so if anyone wants some tickets to that show, let me know, they're free.

We also spent a good 45 minutes standing in line at the Metropolitan Market this past Monday to buy tickets to the Great Big Sea show at the Zoo in July as part of Zoo Tunes. I was actually quite surprised to show up at 8am when tickets went on sale to see a line. Conveniently they were giving away coffee, juice and cookies, which was nice but no real surprise for the Metropolitan Market (which is why we shop there on a regular basis). I think when it comes to the Great Big Sea show, we'll make a day of it and actually go to the Zoo and wander around, we haven't been there in years.
