Why Don't You Marry It Then?

In a different world I would totally marry wikipedia. I am not kidding. Anytime I am looking for information on ANYTHING and google it, wikipedia always comes up. I should probably just go to wikipedia first, but for some reason I never really think of it until after I google it and see wikipedia in the results (which I always go to first). Anytime I have a question about something completely random, wikipedia has always got my back. From the process of coking coal to the origins of red flag, wikipedia has it all. It has yet to lead me astray. This is why I *heart* wikipedia.

Now if only it would clean the toilets, do the dishes and vacuum the floors it would be absolutely perfect.

I Don't Want This Responsibility

I am SICK of hearing about all these companies who are being targeted due to selling "high fat, unhealthy products". When are people going to take responsibility for their own actions? No one ever said that McDonald's, KFC, Burger King or even Starbucks was healthy or good for you. Seriously though, when are people going to realize that they have to take the initiative and learn what is good for them and what isn't? There are numerous items at all those fast food restaurants that can be healthier, but people just need to take a minute and ask questions or think about it. I don't feel sorry for anyone in the least who "got fat" from eating any of that stuff. It's their own fault really, for not thinking about it. Sure, most people aren't educated in nutrition and healthy eating, but at the same time they're too lazy to learn. It's just easier to grab a Big Mac Meal and not think about it. Who's fault is that? No one is shoving frappuccinos with whipped cream and big macs down their throats. Companies aren't there to make sure you're being healthy, that's your job. They're there to sell whatever it is they're selling and for the most part fat = flavor. If more people start asking for healthier alternatives, most likely companies will start producing healthier products.

Starbucks has a number of healthier alternatives such as the light frappuccinos and using fat free milk or soy milk in place of whole milk. McDonald's seems to be trying what with some healthier salads they have on their menu now. The options are there, but people just don't seem to take advantage, and then want to blame their expanding waistline on someone. Well, blame it on yourself. You control what goes into your mouth. Stop blaming it on everyone else!

At The End Of My Cul-De-Sac Davey Havok's House Is Painted Black

A whole lot of randomness:

A lightbulb burnt out in my bathroom this morning when I turned the light on and it actually made me scream a bit.

One of the most bizarre things about where I work is on a near daily basis I somehow end up with dried cranberries stuck to the bottom of my shoes.

Any marriage that doesn't involve YOU is NONE OF YOUR FUCKIN BUSINESS! Get over it. All this talk about gay marriage and constitutional amendments and all is getting really old. I mean there are far more important things we could be dealing with at the moment, such as figuring out how we're going to pay for all the wars we continue to start, or how to get our troops home asap, or even gas prices and the fuckin ECONOMY. Seriously, get your heads out of your asses and think about what's really important for a minute.

If, by some terrible twist of fate, I am ever in the presence of Tim Eyman, you can pretty much guarantee that I will be shouting obscenities at him. He's a complete dick and doesn't really do anything except come up with different initiatives basically so he can make money to keep himself in his nice house and cars. He's a complete waste of space and his latest whatever you want to call it makes me want to throw up all over his shoes. What a fuckin asshole.

I am slightly ashamed to admit that I have been enjoying the new AFI as of late. I remember back in the day when they were all "east bay hardcore" and now they've become some kind of goth type rock band. Apparently they "matured". Either way their new album is pretty good, although completely different from 'Answer That And Stay Fashionable'. I remember going to AFI shows back in the mid 90's and Davey Havok was a pretty normal punk rock type guy. Now I can't look at him without laughing what with his long black goth hair and painted nails and all. What's up with me and the dark music lately?

We're going to Denver in August and want to rent a Scion tC for while we're there. It was actually the Scion that I wanted to buy initially, but we figured the xA would be a better bet. Anyway, we noticed that the dealership where we purchased our xA has a rental office where you can rent Scions and Toyotas, which made us wonder if we can do that in Denver as well. I guess we'll have to look into it.

Speaking of going to Denver, I am pretty much freaked out about the whole traveling thing. Not so much the going away as getting on the plane and having to deal with the whole airport issue. It's been a number of years since we've flown anywhere and I'm just so not into it. I hate lines, I hate going through security, I hate having to wait around, I hate getting on the plane, I hate the take off, I just hate the whole idea. Not to mention all the recent issued with Alaska Airlines planes around here, it makes me rather uncomfortable. We're flying United though and really I don't know if that's any better.

Shawn bought a gps again and we've been Geocaching! It's been a lot of fun and it'll give us something to do during the summer while the majority of our shows have ended and hockey is over for the season. I believe Shawn's goal is to get to 100 found before the end of the summer. I don't know if we'll be able to, but I'm sure we'll have fun trying.

I think a pulled a muscle in my back yesterday while I was lifting weights and now the left side of my neck and my lower back on the left feel a bit tight. And I have a headache. Meh.

Chalk and Cheese

Haha. I found this article to be rather amusing. A trademark dispute in Quebec in regards to the name 'Barbie' being used as the name of a restaurant.

Some of my favorite quotes from the article all coming from Canadian Superior Court Justice, Ian Binnie:

"There is no evidence that adult consumers would consider a doll manufacturer to be a source of good food, still less that the Barbie trademark would be understood to guarantee ... 'character and quality'"

He quoted a dictionary definition of Barbie doll as "a female who is superficially attractive in a conventional way, especially with blue eyes and blond hair, but who lacks personality."

"In that regard, the association of the Barbie doll with food might be taken as a warning of blandness"

And in regards to another trademark dispute between Veuve Clicquot and some woman's clothing store called 'Les Boutiques Cliquot':

"Luxury champagne and mid-priced women's wear are as different as chalk and cheese"

Chalk and cheese?! Brilliant! If he keeps this up I'm thinking we'll be seeing Justice Binnie at the Just For Laughs Festival before long!

I Heard It's Cold Out But Her Popsicle Melts

Confession time!

I am slightly embarrassed to admit that I actually like She Wants Revenge. I am not exactly sure why I like them, they sound familiar yet not at the same time. I was talking about them with a friend and said that "they make me think of being in some dark, smokey club or something kind of sexy but dirty at the same time". That is the best way I can describe them, kind of dark and new wavy sounding. They have a list of influences on their MySpace page that totally make sense. Depeche Mode, Morrissey/The Smiths, Primal Scream, the Stooges, Stone Roses, New Order, Joy Division, David Bowie, etc. I think one of the reasons I like them is because they don't exactly sound like the majority of music today. They just stir up all kinds of emotions in me and I just can't help myself.

They are my latest guilty pleasure.
