Only Two More Days..
Until Davey Havok is officially in Seattle!!!I don't know what it is, but I appear to have this bizarre fascination with him for some reason. In all honesty I don't even think that I overly like him, but there's just something that intrigues me. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that he's become so weird over the past 10 years or so. I remember going to AFI shows back in the mid 90's and meeting Mr Havok on numerous occasions, and although at certain points he did have a wee little devil lock going on, he wasn't all that bizarre. Just another guy from a "hardcore" punk band from California. Now though, he's all out there with the make up, the crazy hair, etc. I mean really, I'm not one to talk about looking weird being that I spent the majority of my teenage years with a shaved head a green bangs, but I honestly don't think his whole look suits him. I really have nothing against the whole look that he has going on, and in fact I think that some people can look totally awesome that way, but just not him. It just doesn't work, and in fact it makes me laugh.
So even though AFI and Mr Davey Havok will be at Bumbershoot on Saturday I will not be going. Part of me wants to because the new album is completely awesome (as I've mentioned before), but I don't think I'd be able to keep a straight face. I can barely watch one of their videos without going from staring in shock and awe to completely falling apart laughing and back and forth. I think part of it is even though AFI's new album is really good, they're just not the AFI I used to know and love. I really think they should have changed their name when they went down the bizarre road, then I might be able to handle the whole situation a bit better. Maybe.
